[It's About Time Academy] What's happening in July!

Dear Reader,

July is one of my favorite months, and also one of the most random ones.

Here’s what my July actually looks like: One week, my girls are at my parents’ house. The next week, we’re on vacation. And the week after that, they’re at cheer camp. Then, the week after that, they’re at my in-laws’.

Four weeks.
Four completely different schedules.
Four different versions of what a “normal” day even looks like. 😅

Maybe your July looks a little like that too. Summer has a way of throwing out the rulebook and replacing it with something that’s equal parts wonderful and unpredictable.

And here’s what I’ve been sitting with: I can’t rely on the consistency of routine in July. The schedule is going to shift week to week, and that’s just the reality of this season. But what I can do my best to control, no matter what the week looks like, is how I manage my energy.

That’s why this month inside the Academy, we’re focusing on energy.

Not productivity.
Not output.
Not how much you got done.
Not even how consistent you are with your routines like we were in June!

Instead, we're focusing how you feel — and whether you’re ending your days with anything left in the tank.

Because here’s the truth: when your schedule is unpredictable, energy becomes your most important resource.

Routines can flex. Plans can shift. But if you’re running on empty, none of it works.

So this July, let’s talk about how to protect it, restore it, and make the most of it even if every week looks different.

3 Ways to Manage Your Energy This Month

  • Know your energy patterns. When do you feel most focused and alive? When do you hit a wall? Start paying attention this month — not to fix it immediately, but just to notice. Awareness is always the first step.
  • Match your tasks to your energy. On your best-energy days or times, do your most important work. On your low-energy days, let yourself do the lighter stuff. Stop fighting your natural rhythm and start working with it.
  • Build in real recovery. Rest isn’t a reward for finishing everything. Let me say that again: REST IS NOT A REWARD!!! It’s a requirement for doing anything well. This month, schedule your recharge time like it’s a meeting, because it is.

As you think about how you want this month to feel, here are a few things worth putting on the calendar:

✅ Do an energy audit — Spend 10 minutes reflecting on where your energy is going right now. What’s filling you up? What’s draining you? Even a rough list is a powerful starting point.

✅ Schedule your recharge — Look at your July calendar and block at least one real recharge moment per week. Not leftover time. Intentional time.

✅ Grab your July Planning Pages — Use them to set your intentions for the month and get ahead of those shifting weekly schedules before they sneak up on you.

✅ Come to coaching on Tuesdays. -- Summer schedules make it tempting to drop off. But this is exactly the season when a few minutes of support and strategy can make the biggest difference. We’ll be here every Tuesday at noon.

I’m cheering you on through every wild, wonderful, schedule-flipping week of it. 💙

Dear Reader, August is here! And in my house, that means one thing: the girls go back to school on August 6th. Which means the wild, schedule-flipping, four-different-weeks-that-look-nothing-alike summer we talked about last month? It's wrapping up. And as much as I've loved it, there's a part of me that's ready for the shift. But here's what I've been thinking about as we head into this transition: it's not just my girls who need to shift out of summer mode. I do too. Because summer has a...

Dear Reader, June is here, and I'm stepping into it feeling something I didn't quite expect coming out of Maycember: clarity. I just turned 41. And somehow, my birthday this year felt more like a quiet invitation to pause and reflect. I spent time thinking about my vision for the next year of my life -- who I'm becoming, what I want to be intentional about, and what habits will help me show up as that person. I made a list. Some were things I wanted to recommit to. Some were brand new. And...
