[It's About Time Academy] What's happening in June!

Dear Reader,

June is here, and I'm stepping into it feeling something I didn't quite expect coming out of Maycember: clarity.

I just turned 41. And somehow, my birthday this year felt more like a quiet invitation to pause and reflect. I spent time thinking about my vision for the next year of my life -- who I'm becoming, what I want to be intentional about, and what habits will help me show up as that person.

I made a list. Some were things I wanted to recommit to. Some were brand new. And what struck me as I wrote them down is that every single one of them came back to the same thing: routines.

Not routines in a rigid, perfectionistic way. But routines as an act of self-trust. Routines as the quiet, daily promise you make to yourself -- and keep.

And funny enough, months ago when I mapped out our year in the Academy, I wrote down Routines next to June.

And the timing feels right, doesn't it? We just came through the Take Back Your Time Challenge together in May. For many of us, that was an important reset -- a chance to zoom out, get honest about where our time was actually going, and recommit to what matters. Now it's time to build on that momentum.

The challenge isn't knowing what routines would help us. It's actually building them, and making them stick.

So this month, that's what we're doing.

3 Ways to Lean Into Routines This Month

  • Start with one. You don't need a complete morning routine, evening routine, and work shutdown routine rocking and rolling by June 30th. Pick one routine that would make the biggest difference in your life right now, and give it your full attention this month.
  • Write it out. Vague routines don't stick. What does this routine actually look like, step by step? What's your best-case version — when everything goes right? And what's your bare minimum — for the days when life happens? Both matter. Both count.
  • Give yourself credit. Every time you show up for your routine -- even imperfectly -- that's worth noting. Consistency isn't about being perfect. It's about coming back.

One fun thing to try this month:

Copy, paste and customize this prompt into your favorite AI tool for a personalized mindset reset:

I want to build a [morning/evening/workday startup/workday shutdown] routine that actually sticks. Here's what I'm working with: [share your current schedule, energy patterns, and any constraints like kids, commute, work hours]. Can you help me draft a starting point — a best-case version and a bare minimum version — that I can test, adjust, and make my own?

If you try this, I’d love for you to share how it goes.

We’ve created a dedicated #AI channel in our Slack community where you can ask questions, share prompts, and learn from how others are using AI in real life.

As you think about how you want this month to feel, here are a few things worth putting on the calendar:

1. The June Routine Challenge

This month's challenge is one of the most practical ones we've done, because it's not just about thinking about your routines. It's about building one for real.

Here's how it works:

  1. Choose one routine you want to lock in this month.
  2. Write out the steps — what does this routine look like from start to finish?
  3. Define your best-case and your bare minimum. Best case is when you have the time and energy. Bare minimum is when life is full and you just need to show up at all.
  4. Track your follow-through — mark the dates on your challenge card every time you do it, even if it wasn't perfect.

At the end of the month, share your completed card in Slack for a chance to win a bonus 1:1 coaching session with Anna or Elizabeth — your choice. 🎉

Here's what I know about routines: they're not glamorous. Nobody posts about their boring, but incredibly supportive Tuesday morning routine going exactly as planned. But those quiet moments of showing up for yourself? That's where everything changes.

This is your month to build something that lasts.
I'm cheering you on, as always.

With love (and a fresh 41-year-old perspective 😄),

Dear Reader, August is here! And in my house, that means one thing: the girls go back to school on August 6th. Which means the wild, schedule-flipping, four-different-weeks-that-look-nothing-alike summer we talked about last month? It's wrapping up. And as much as I've loved it, there's a part of me that's ready for the shift. But here's what I've been thinking about as we head into this transition: it's not just my girls who need to shift out of summer mode. I do too. Because summer has a...

Dear Reader, July is one of my favorite months, and also one of the most random ones. Here’s what my July actually looks like: One week, my girls are at my parents’ house. The next week, we’re on vacation. And the week after that, they’re at cheer camp. Then, the week after that, they’re at my in-laws’. Four weeks. Four completely different schedules. Four different versions of what a “normal” day even looks like. 😅 Maybe your July looks a little like that too. Summer has a way of throwing...
